Night Vision Binoculars

Night vision binoculars use infrared technology for true clarity in the dark.

Night vision binoculars can be extremely useful tools for hunting, or leisure.  Although they are also very expensive, so finding the right pair for your uses will be essential, so that you don’t end up overpaying.  Night vision binoculars come in a wide variety of types and styles, and the right for you depends upon how you’ll be using them.  Do you plan on hunting? Or are you going to use them for night time surveillance around your property?  The type of uses you have planned will dictate the best pair for you.

Nigh vision binoculars work by converting infrared light, that is beyond the naked eye’s ability to see, and amplify the light so that the dark outdoors looks much lighter.  This way you can literally see through the dark and make out objects and animals, even people, that you would have been otherwise unable to see.  Typically there are four different types of night vision binoculars, generations 1-4.  Generation 1 binoculars enable you to amplify light so that you can see in the dark, but don’t offer any features beyond that.  Generation 2 afford you the ability to see a much brighter and more clear image, which is of a much higher quality than generation 1.

Generation 3 works about the same way as both previous styles, but once again the screen is much brighter.  This type enables more electrons to create a brighter and more finely defined infra red image, so you’ll be able to see much better.  Generation 4 is by far the most advanced technology, and provides the brightest and most accurate image possible.  Plus generation 4 allows you to switch between classic green night vision, and the easier to navigate black and white night vision.  These are best for hunting, so that you can easily and assuredly track any animals throughout a wide area.

Cost differs greatly from generation to generation.  Night vision binoculars aren’t cheap as it is, but price grows exponentially the better the quality of the picture display.  Generation 1 and 2 are fairly similar in price, both can be found in the low to mid hundreds.  Generation 3 is going to cost well into the hundreds, and maybe into the thousands.  But for generation 4 night vision binoculars you’ll have to be looking to pay into the thousands at minimum, because of the advanced technology required.  The fourth type are also very hard to find, making them extreme collectors items.

When you’re actually looking to purchase night vision binoculars, you can either go to a local store, or even shop online. Electronics stores, as well as outdoor sporting goods stores will probably have a few options.  You can find them even at a common electronics dealer like Best Buy, although quantity and quality varies based upon where you live.  Also online websites like Amazon.com and Overstock.com have a surprising amount of good night vision binoculars options, at fairly low prices.  Weigh your planned uses against the price that you are prepared to pay.
